Restaurant Review: Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt

Last week, a friend of ours introduced me and 2 other friends to a yoghurt store in Glorietta. Tutti Frutti is unlike your regular yogurt place wherein you place your order and wait by the cashier. Here you:

So what did my friends and I get?

One of our friends appreciated the flavors offered by Tutti Frutti because she can't seem to like the taste of regular yoghurt (a bit sour). So, I feel that that is a plus for this yoghurt place...more people get to appreciate it! Also, another friend pointed out that their flat rate of 20PHP per ounce is good because you can control how much you get. So this is good for those on a diet and for those who are just craving for the taste of yoghurt. Nail Salon Review: Beauty and Butter

I've been going to the same nail salon whenever I want to relax and have my nails done for years now.  But lately, I've been going to other nail salons to try their nail art. Although I couldn't help but compare it to my favorite nail salon, I was able to objectively review this nail salon in SM Megamall called Beauty and Butter. It is conveniently located at the 5th floor of Mega A, away from the bustling crowds.

To be honest, even though I've been loyal to one salon for the longest time, I was quite excited to have my nails done at B&B because of their highly detailed hand-painted nail art designs. So it was a good thing that we had reservations for Friday afternoon because it's one of their busiest time slots. One observation I had when we arrived there was that it seemed like they lost our reservation along with our customer form but fortunately, they still accommodated us. We availed the Hand and Foot Spa with Manicure and Pedicure for Php999 and Designer Nail Art for Php600.

We were given four choices for the scrub that they were going to use for the hand and foot spa and these were: floral, fruity, minty or chocolate. My sister chose mint while I chose chocolate. The process is the same as other hand/foot spas. They soak your feet and fingernails, then they use your chosen scrub, rinse and then apply the mask and wrap you.

If there's one part I'd remember about my Beauty and Butter experience (apart from the nail art part itself) it would be that they wrap your feet and hands in a very cute manner which temporarily makes you look slightly like a mummy.

Anyway, after wiping the mask off with a wet towel, they massage your hands and feet and start to focus on your digits. I was a bit uneasy because the buttercups (that's how they refer to the nail technicians) assisting us didn't ask if we wanted our cuticles to be removed and just proceeded to do so. Luckily, everything went well and no one got injured. So, if you are also critical about having your cuticles removed, don't forget to tell your buttercup beforehand.

Beauty and Butter has their own nail polish line. It doesn't matter if you're getting a manicure, pedicure or nail art, they'll give you the freedom to choose the color they'd use on you. But keep in mind that when it comes to the nail art, this 'so-called-freedom-to-choose-the-color' also depends on the design of your nail art. With the design I chose, I didn't have the luxury to choose what colors they'd use for my nail art (hands only). I did, however, choose brown for my feet but the shade I chose turned out to be copper-ish.

I was surprised to see two male nail art design technicians. The two guys are their experts when it comes to painting the intricate designs. Instead of the usual nail polish and nail art pen, they use acrylic paint and fine tipped art brushes. (I was a bit hesitant about them using acrylic paint on my nails but I researched about it and found out that it is actually safe to use on nails. In fact, there are acrylic nail polishes in the market.) After patiently waiting for 45 minutes, my nail art was done! Once the acrylic completely dried, my buttercup applied the top coat and placed my nails under the nail dryer.

For the 3 hours that I stayed there, all I can say is that I enjoyed my first try. I loved watching Ace Ventura on their flat screen TVs, I enjoyed the yummy scent of their chocolate scrub and most of all, I loved how my nail art turned out.

New hotspots..

1. Glorietta 5

You know how Filipinos love to check out newly opened malls so one weekend afternoon, I decided to check this place out. Hehe. It didn't matter that I didn't know when exactly this mall opened, I know I just had to check it out. Apparently, Glorietta 2 is now closed so this is sort of the replacement wing. Most of the store spaces are still open for occupation. What I observed, though, was that the interior design of the ground floor was sophisticated but as you reach the topmost floor, more and more of the stores in it felt like it didn't belong there. Hehe. Sorry. However, Glo5 (as my friend calls it) houses several interesting restaurants. Watch out for my other post about the resto. ;) Anyway, if ever you're in the Ayala Malls area, go ahead and take the opportunity to check this place out.

2. Forbes Town Center's Forbes Town Road

There's a new fine dining and high-end fashion strip in town! Global City is home to the newly built Forbes Town Center. It would have a residential block and a retail strip, just like

 Singapore's Bugis Junction. As of now, it is still not so advisable to visit because there's still a lot of construction going on at the vicinity. However, there's something nice about knowing that you're one of the first ones to go there even before it was formally opened, right? Haha. How do you get there? It's the strip of restaurants and shops in front of UCC and McDonald's The Fort.

3. Eastwood Mall

Who hasn't been to Eastwood for a gimmick, right? But most of us don't know that there is a new mall in the area! The new mall is a bit hidden so it takes a good eye to notice that something great is cooking right across the street from McDonald's and GoNuts Donuts.

I've been to this mall for a number of times now. I am actually in love with its overall design. You'd feel like you're in a different place! The restrooms are really clean and well designed. Also, I can't wait for its cinema to open. I hear that they have Lazy-Boy seats that are covered with purple velvet! Hehe. I also enjoy going to this mall's Starbucks and Timezone with my cousins. I also appreciate how a number of stores here are seldom found elsewhere. However, one boo boo of this mall is that you'd have to cross the street (with no covered walkway) to reach most of the restaurants. But still, that's such a minor fact!

Sexy Coffee!

Coffee ain't a man's drink anymore. It has suddenly turned more feminine. Sexier. Naughtier.

Yes girls! That's the image Delifrance is trying to create for their new line of coffees which unbelievably contain alcohol! *gasp!* Alcohol in our coffee? Hmm... that's something I didn't imagine possible! But yeah, Delifrance did the unthinkable and came up with that unlikely combination! It's now up to us girls to find out if that combi actually works or not! -- and Delifrance has made that easier for us by giving away free coffee!

Yes, yes, free coffee! From March 3-7 at 5-7pm, Delifrance is giving away free "spiked coffees" to their dining in customers. The only thing you need to do is give the barista the password when he asks for it. The password being... *drumroll please*, "naughty with my coffee". Oooohh.. cool line! It actually makes me want to go there just to say the password more than tasting the spiked treats. Haha! Baaaad.

Anyway, S and I are huge coffee drinkers so news like this excites us! We are already very excited to try our these new treats! The only thing hindering us from getting these glorious cups of caffeine is the time. 5-7 pm at Delifrance? Hmm... let's see.

midtown, our town!

hey hey everyone! all fashion savvy girls have heard of the news about the opening of landmark trinoma. let us be the one to announce to you about the opening of another exciting shopping haven for us... robinson's ermita recently opened a new wing called MIDTOWN. not only does midtown have more spacious boutiques and crave-satisfying restaurants, but it also has new movie theaters.

two shops that are already open in robinson's ermita are david and goliath and crocs. not to worry though we're sure that a lot of the shops are hurrying to open up their new stores too. ;) for example, starbucks, coffee bean and tea leaf, la piadina, cmg, and topshop are to open before the year ends.

the beauty of this shopping mall is its strategic location. it is found in ermita, the same block as UP PGH. that's why we're sure that people from taft and the university belt would find it quite easy to go to...what with all the available public transportation available around the vicinity, it really is a goood place for spur-of-the-moment shopping sprees. ;)
