Charice takes on RnB!

I don't know if I've just been dwelling in a 'cave' for too long but it's only now that I found out that the Charice sang the song Pyramid! So okay, maybe I have been living under a rock but reaaaaally! I have been humming that song for weeks, not realizing it was Charice! Goodness, she is sooooo good!



I think Charice has found her genre in RnB. This song totally rocks! I'm so proud of her! :D

Seeing with Brand New Eyes

I know it's no secret that S and I are big Paramore fans! I remember the time when we scouted almost all record bars in the Metro for the RIOT! album, only to find it at Landmark's record bar (of all places!)

For some reason, the release of Paramore's newest album Brand New Eyes escaped my mind and it's only now that I remembered to drop by the record bar to get it. I'm sooooo excited to hear the songs especially since Hayley said she believes this album is their best and the music in it defines their style the best.

Well, how was it?

I'm not even done listening to the whole album and already I'm getting butterflies in my heart! (is there such a thing? lol) I tell you it's soooooooo good! I understand now why Hayley thinks it's their best album so far. It's like with this album, they finally found their own musical style. All We Know is Falling was really good but also really raw and had "a little bit of everything" feel to it. Riot! on the other hand, was so angst-driven and leaned more on the punk-slash-screamo side-- typical of second albums where the artist gets too excited. lol!

Brand New Eyes is like a combination of both but with so much depth and artistry. I am telling you, it is sooooo good I wanna cry! hahaha! :P Their first single Ignorance doesn't do justice to the whole album!-- I don't even like it that much! The other songs in the album are incredibly good I don't even have words for them!

Paramore was right naming the album Brand New Eyes co'z I'm definitely seeing them with Brand New Eyes and from here, the sight is spectacular :)

The first time I heard this song on the radio, I was awakened from my shallow slumber. It had such a nice melody that just had to pay attention!

I've been searching for the artist for weeks now, and it's only today that I found out who sang that glorious song: Krissy and Ericka!

I was really surprised when I found out they're both Filipinos! Whut?? And to think I was even looking at Marie Digby's album thinking it was her who sang it! lol! :P

These girls are great! They have such cute and relaxing voices! Their musical style is also very interesting! It's Lenka meets M2M :) On top of that, they're really pretty too!

The new Aaron Carter?

I'm part of the Pop! Generation. We grew up listening to boy bands, the Spice Girls and lots and lots of Pop Artists like Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Christina Aguilera, Hilary Duff aaaaand Aaron Carter! Boy bands were the in things back then but the one person who most girls my age went puppy love crazy over is the one and only and incredibly cute Aaron Carter!

Guess what? This generation has their own Aaron Carter too! Girls in their pre-teens no longer has to swoon over "older" guys, they can go gaga over a boy their age! Introducing, my latest "boy" crush, Justin Bieber!

Justin is a 15-year old Canadian that was made famous by his youtube videos. At 12, he created homemade videos putting his own twist on songs by Usher, Ne-Yo, and Stevie Wonder. His videos racked hits up to 10,000,000 just from pure word of mouth! It is because of this that his manager discovered him and seven months after, he was on his way to Atlanta.

Here's the fun twist!

While in Atlanta, he saw Usher on the parking lot of the studio and told him, "Hey Usher, I love your songs, do you want me to sing you one?" Usher invited him inside and it only took a few minutes for Usher to realize he just found a gem in Justin! But here's another twist: Usher wanted to sign him right then and there but he refused because Justin Timberlake also had his eyes on him! (whoa, lucky kid!) In the end though, Justin found Usher's deal better so he went with him!

This kid is amazing! Aside from having a really great voice, he also taught himself how to play the drums, guitar, piano and trumpet (goodness!)

You HAVE to watch his video for One Time. I know it's a little too pre-teen for most of us but put yourself in the shoes of a 12-year old and I'm pretty sure you'll be swooning over him! Quite honestly, I think he would do great because he is so charming and charm always goes a long way!

Who is Sliimy?

A few days ago, my celebrity twitter friends were all tweeting "Who is Sliimy?" Of course, I didn't know too! But it was enough to stir my curiousity especially after seeing Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Jordin Sparks and Katy Perry among others asking the same thing. I was too busy with Cinemalaya that it is only now that I had the chance to investigate and so I finally reveal to you all who Sliimy is!

Sliimy (pronounced as Sleemy) is a French artist, making his first signing under Perez Hilton's company, Perezcious Music. He was discovered by Perez after receiving Sliimy's cover of Britney Spear's Womanizer last December. His debut album will drop on September 14. But already he is lucky enough to be opening some dates on both Britney Spears’ and Katy Perry’s European tours.

Queen B is so bad!

I have been waiting for this since I heard Leighton was shooting her video with Starship Cobra and now that it's finally released, I can't contain my happiness (and excitement!)

It's amazing how many concerts are in line in the next two months at Araneta! And they're not just concerts, they are CONCERTS if you know what I mean. So, who'll be rocking the dome this July and August? These guys:

Lady Lenka's "show"

It's been common to hear of tv shows launching careers of music artists. I mean, there was Grey's Anatomy with the Fray and Snow Patrol, One Tree Hill with Gavin DeGraw and The OC with Phantom Planet. Tv soundtracks are the stuff of legends on instant stardom! Well, PK's featured artist is a TV soundtrack baby too! Introducing, PK's pick of the month, and my current favorite artist, Lenka!

Lenka Kripac is originally an Australian artist who trained under Cate Blanchett. Why she suddenly turned her attention to singing, I don't know but for that same reason, I'm thankful she did because she is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

You've probably heard her on Grey's Anatomy with "Trouble is a Friend", and my favorite, "We Will Not Grow Old" on 90210. Lenka just has this amazing voice that is sweet but punky at the same time! What a great pairing! And have you seen her video for "The Show"? It's upbeat and refreshing and super fun, you would immediately be drawn to her. I absolutely love the lyrics too! It's supposed to be sad but it's uplifting and the way she sings it gives it a very light and optimistic vibe!

I have been fixated on this video since I saw it on MTV Exit Concert but I couldn't find a copy of it on youtube until today.


I am awed by the energy of the video! I don't think you'd get the same effect by just listening to the song. Yael and Gary V.'s performance definitely made it so much more interesting! Definitely a very, very good collaboration!

Hooray Charice!

It's so unbelievable how things work out for us mere humans under God's hands. Who would have thought a little girl from Laguna would be capturing America's hearts? Amaaazing!

Well, kudos to our Charice, her song "Note to God" is now No. 2 in Amazon's Downloads Bestsellers and Hot New Releases section, and No. 1 on the Movers and Shakers. Can you believe it has already overtaken Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face,” Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb,” Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” Beyoncé’s “Halo,” and Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida?" So cool! It's also No. 9 in Itunes! And from his twitter, David Archuleta said that he actually downloaded Charice's song! WOW.

Good job girl! You're doing us proud!

Jai Ho!

When Slumdog Millionaire won awards left and right, I immediately wanted to see the film. But for some reason, it is only now that it made its way to the Philippines. Well, well, well, I'm glad I waited because it has proven that it is indeed worthy of acclaim!

The plot is simple: an Indian boy wins in Who wants to be a Millionaire. His win was questionned because they did not think he was capable of answering all those questions. BUT as the film reveals, he is actually able to answer every single one of them because each one is connected to a very important event in his life. It's a simple film but it is very deep--and I think that that is what makes the movie spectacular.

I give this film two thumbs up! It was deep, simple, and a very great movie to watch. You also have to see the dance number at the end, it was so beautiful!

I am actually getting lss from the song, Jai Ho which is part of the soundtrack. The PCD did a great job with it. They made it modern and ultra cool. Check out the video here:

The newest ipod

I thought this isn't out in the Philippine market yet, but it is! Maybe they weren't as 'all out' with presenting this as the Nano-chromatic. So, we'd like to take the opportunity to present the newest addition to the ipod family to you..

GIVE A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR THE NEWEST GENERATION OF THE  I-POD SHUFFLE!

There are several differences (or improvements, depending on your perception) with the new shuffle and the old one. The most noticeable change is its shape. Next is where the controls are. Now, the controls are located on the right earbud's cord. It still has the clip but it is now made of stainless steel. The best change of all is this, the new shuffle now talks! Yes, you read that right, it talks! Since there's no screen for you to read what song is playing and since the shuffle targets the physically active ones, the new shuffle now has a 'talking option' which tells you what song you're about to listen to. It can also tell you who sang the song, and what playlist it's playing for you.

This new ipod is now the most handy of them all. Even if it still has 4GB memory, it's made  more affordable by Apple. I checked iStudio the other day, and if I remember it correctly, it's around P4,000. So what are you waiting for, go get one! :)

OMG! Did you see his performance tonight? His rendition of Jesus Take the Wheel was superb! I was teary-eyed just watching him! Gawd is he goooooood! Plus his personality is so cute too! I can't get his "air guitar" moment out of my head! "I wanna learn, I wanna learn!" hahaha! :P

Some of his most memorable songs for us is his version of Kiss from a Rose and I hope you Dance from Hollywood week *lovestruck!* We are so looking forward to seeing more of his greatness!

Manic over hey monday!

So alright, I brand myself a loser for not seeing these guys when they performed in Manila. Boo me! I missed out on this big opportunity! Darnnit.

Well, this won't stop me from raving about them here instead! Who am I talking about? Hey Monday! The newest, pop-est, cool-est band right now! You are so last summer if you haven't heard of them yet! haha, kidding! :P

Hey Monday is an American Alternative rock band who is currently touring with Fall Out Boy (gaah, I missed their show!). They are a very young band (so obvious!) who was actually discovered by Pete Wentz. Yeah, that's why they're "luckily" touring with the boys :)

I think their appeal lies in the fact that they look so amateur that it comes off really fresh! It's not that you haven't heard their sound before but more of how they present their music in a weirdly fresh and appealing way. In the words of Simon Cowell, "they have likeability".

I know, they are no Paramore. For a 19-year old Cassadee is no match to Hayley who is the same age as her. But they have a sound of their own. And it's this "freshness" that I think is very promising for the band. It's what makes them "in" right now.

So, why don't you just check them out and see for yourself? As for me, I'm going manic over Hey Monday :) Try listening to Homecoming and my current favorite, Candles :)

We know that Valentine's just happened a week and a few days ago but it seems right to make a post about this. You see, there was a time last year when it was common to come across a brokenhearted person. It felt like it was the epidemic that time. Hehe. Now, you're unsure where you stand.
